SCDAA'S
MISSION
SCDAA's mission is to promote finding a universal cure for sickle
cell disease and to improve the quality of life for individuals
and families where sickle cell disease related conditions exist.
As children from the sickle cell disease community make their journey
into adolescence and on to adulthood, they learn to rely on hope
for a cure, while support systems help them and their families cope
with the medical and psychosocial impact of sickle cell disease.
For more than a quarter of a century, SCDAA has provided a large
measure of that hope. Your charitable contributions and volunteer
work will go a long way toward keeping that hope alive.

Volunteers
SCDAA, Miami-Dade County Chapter, Inc. depends to a large extent
on volunteers, as the executive director, a part-time clerical person,
and the board constitute our full complement of staff. Volunteerism
may last from one hour to several years. Whether long-term, short-term,
individuals or groups, SCDAA could not have accomplished its many
challenges without committed, hardworking volunteers.
Put your unique skills to work for SCDAA. Your assistance to support
our mission and to help improve the quality of life for sickle cell
patients are welcomed.
Volunteering is...
- Being a partner in the fight against sickle cell disease;
- Learning more about sickle cell anemia and other variant
hemoglobins;
- Developing new skills and leadership abilities;
- Serving your community and the needs of people with sickle
cell conditions;
- Meeting new friends;
- Professional and personal growth;
- The opportunity to make a difference in the life of someone
affected with sickle cell disease.
